Behind the Blooms: A Day in the Life of a Florist
Ever wondered what it is like to spend your day surrounded by flowers? At Expressions in Cambridge, it is about much more than arranging pretty petals. Instead, it is about crafting emotion, spreading joy and connecting with our community. So, here is a day in the life of a florist at our Victoria Street shop.
A day in the life of a florist starts early
Our day begins early, often before sunrise, when fresh flowers arrive. First, every stem is checked, trimmed and given a long drink. That way, only the best blooms make it into our bouquets, flower bags and posies.
Then the creative work begins
Next, the design work starts. We create everything from birthday bunches to elegant sympathy tributes. In addition, we make romantic gestures and displays for local businesses. No two orders are the same, which keeps every day interesting.
Helping customers choose
Arranging is only part of the job. Our florists also work closely with customers. For example, we help them choose colours and blooms to suit the occasion and the message. It might be a bride planning her wedding flowers. Alternatively, it might be someone popping in for a “just because” gift. Either way, we are ready with a smile and expert advice.
Gifts, displays and deliveries
Between floral orders, there is plenty more to do. We wrap gifts, refresh displays and restock our scented gifts. Meanwhile, our driver heads out with deliveries across Cambridge and Hamilton. Orders placed before 12pm can usually go out the same day.
Why we love what we do
Each day blends art, storytelling and community. As a result, our shop is more than a flower shop. It is a warm space where every gift is personal and every bouquet has meaning. Many customers have become like family over the years.
